The Young Urban Failures lifestyle initially centered around the Venice Beach canals of the early 1980's. A yuffie was a relaxed culture. Most of us had moved to Los Angeles and were single. Not sure what we wanted from ourselves, we found others without really looking. We hacky-sacked, went to the bars to see friends' bands play, lived among some great tv character actors and, sought out the $1.67 meal. Life had a surreal, outdoor dorm-like feel to it. Sundays started with a walk down the boardwalk for a Lafayette breakfast with no idea what your day had in store for you. Do you end up seeing old friends, going on a roadtrip to the valley, hanging out at the beach, enjoying a street festival, meeting new friends at some fascinating non-planned event? No cells/emails meant lots of walking. When a friend had a car and wanted to drive somewhere, you went along because in L.A. anything was possible.
